Combined choirs present Handel's Messiah with orchestra

Location: California, USA
Choir type: Choirs with Religious Affiliation
Voicing: Mixed

Members of Newport Harbor Lutheran Church and Mesa Verde United Methodist Church will join together to perform George Frederic Handel’s Messiah. The concert takes place on Sunday, December 22, at 4:00 p.m. at Newport Harbor Lutheran Church in Newport Beach.

Handel’s masterpiece has long been a favorite concert selection for the Christmas season. Featuring inspired music such as the famous “Hallelujah” chorus and “For unto us a child is born,” Handel’s majestic work is one of the most beloved in Western music.

The combined chorus includes singers from the community and the performance will feature soloists Jenny Spence, Deborah Winsor Williams, Daniel Plaster, and David Stoneman. They will perform the Christmas portion of Messiah accompanied by the strings, brass, and percussion of Da Capo Players. Matthew Martinez, Music Director at Mesa Verde United Methodist Church, will be conducting the combined forces with Rev. William Wells, Music Director at Newport Harbor Lutheran Church, playing organ.

The suggested ticket donation for the program is $20.00. For tickets and more information, call Newport Harbor Lutheran Church at (949) 548-3631.
