The Big Chicken Chorus

Category: Community Choirs
Voicing: Men
Location: Marietta, Georgia, USA
The Big Chicken Chorus is the primary performing unit of the Marietta, GA Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Formed in 1986 and named after the city of Marietta's famous landmark- The Big Chicken, the all-male chorus sings four part a cappella harmony in the style of Barbershop Quartets.
The Marietta, GA Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and the Big Chicken Chorus strives to preserve and encourage the singing of Barbershop Harmony in a professional and congenial atmosphere. Our purpose is to enrich the quality of life in our community, engage our audiences and provide musical challenge and reward to our singers.  We meet and rehearse from 7 PM to 9:30 PM each non-Holiday Monday evening at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 505 Powers Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30067. All rehearsals are open to visitors and auditions are on-going for those men interested in becoming a member of the chorus.
Under the Direction of Lars Grevstad, a Music Educator with extensive vocal production training and experience, our rehearsals are productive, fun, and have been described as a weekly free voice lesson.
Over the years, the BCC has sponsored our own performances in a variety of venues including the Atlanta Civic Center, the Rialto Theater for the Performing Arts, Ferst Center for the Arts, Fox Theater, Mable House Amphitheater, J. Alton Keith Performing Arts Center at McEachern High School, and Jennie T. Anderson Theater at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta. As a “Georgia Touring Artist,” we have performed in Georgia communities including Dawson, Cartersville, Waleska, and Waynesboro. As members of our international society we have performed throughout the U.S. including performances in Canada and Great Britain.
We also do several perfromances each year for other non-profit organiations as well as public and private performances for a variety of community, school, church, or corporate events.
