Choral Anthems about "finding our purpose?"

Hello fellow ChoralNet members,
I am programming music for an adult all-volunteer church choir of about 22 members and am struggling to find an anthem which matches the theme of "finding our purpose." I am looking for something that is SATB (preferrably with accompaniment but if it is not too difficult it could be a cappella) that does not sound too incredibly hokey and contemporary. I program as much classical repertoire for my ensemble as possible and tend to avoid anything too contemporary (save the typical spiritural now and then) unless its something I find particularly moving (such as Leo Nestor's "The Call" or Sir John Tavener's "The Lamb). Speaking of, "The Call" is an excellent option but they recently performed that so I am hoping for something else. Any recommendations?

A couple of pieces come to mind; from easy to harder, they are…
“Come, Holy Ghost” by Christopher Tye
“O Lord, Give Thy Spirit” by Thomas Tallis
“Emitte Spiritum Tuum” by Josef Schuetky
"Nun Danket" (3rd mvt from BWV 192) by J.S. Bach

Dear Jerron,
My inspirational compositions have helped many choirs and solo vocalists "find their purpose". Check out my compositions "Take My Hand", "Carry On", and "One Star" on my website, I would be happy to send you sample SATBs, and accompaniment tracks are available.
Best wishes,

I think "Lord, For Thy Tender Mercy's Sake" by Richard Farrant is a great anthem on becoming our "best selves".

"Many Gifts, One Spirit" Allen Pote
There is also a setting by Diane Hannibal, but I am not familiar with it.

A couple of hymns that immediately come to mind - you could arrange them yourself or find arrangements by others:
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Be Thou My Vision
The Summons
Here I Am, Lord
I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light
A more contemporary piece that I don't find hokey is by the Gettys:  By Faith.  I love the melody to this one, and as a songwriting team I think they do an excellent job producing thoughtful lyrics.
