Escolania de Montserrat - Amazing Spanish Boy Choir in DC for One Night Only!

Location: District of Columbia, USA
Choir type: Professional Choirs
Classical Movements, Inc. is proud to present the Escolania de Montserrat for one night only in the Washington, DC area as part of the Serenade! International Choral Series.  Don't miss this incredible concert on March 16th at 3:00pm at the Music Center at Strathmore!

The 800-year-old Escolania de Montserrat comes from the Benedictine abbey and Sanctuary of Santa Maria de Montserrat near Barcelona, Spain, which is the most famous pilgrimage site in all of Cataluña and attracts thousands of pilgrims every year.  This concert is part of the ensemble's inaugural tour to the continental U.S., which also includes stops in New York and New Jersey.

The choir will be featuring a program entitled "Montserrat and Cataluña: A Thousand Years of Music."  The repertoire highlights Catalan music, much of which was written for and around the Basilica of Montserrat.  The works span a thousand years of history and include pieces by such notable Catalan composers as Pablo Casals, among others.

The Escolania de Montserrat is under the direction of Bernat Vivancos and features Vicenc Prunes as accompanist.
