"Longing for Spring" Concert in Ashland, Wisconsin

      The Northland College and Community Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Russell Thorngate and Ms. Donalee Brevak, will present "Longing for Spring," a concert of choral music on Thursday, February 27 at 7:30 PM in the Alvord Theatre, Northland College, Ashland, Wisconsin. The concert is free and open to the public. Groups featured will be the Northland Singers, the Northland College Chamber Choir, the Lumberjack Chorus, and the Accidentals Women's Chorus. There will be music by Ludwig van Beethoven, Eric Whitacre, Kirby Shaw, Jean Sibelius, Paul Simon, Johann Pachelbel, John Lennon, and others. Also on the program will be the world premiere of "Sing Spring," a collaboration between local poet Alice Eliis and composer Russell Thorngate. It is the third of four songs commissioned by the Northland Song Project.
