please send me your suggestions to haltonjazzchoir(a)gmail.com

A cappella? Accompanied? Piano only, or piano/bass/drums, or larger ensemble?

(Also, when is Father's Day in your country? Here in Australia it's in September, but I'm getting a feeling you need it earlier than that.)

While not Father's Day specific, may I recommend to you a beautiful a cappella arr. of the Jule Styne's
MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY? Written for S.A.B. voices(with occasional div. for tenors) - some solos - of medium difficulty(if even that!) - Arr. by Matt Falker - Sound Music Publications -SMP08-032.  Upon reading your request this immediately came to mind - don't know why.  You can hear it at smpjazz.com
Good luck!

You are right this is a BEAUTFUL ARRANGEMENT & I think we would be up to performing this... it's right up our 'path'... but.. as you said, it's not really geared to Father's day.. we could 'speak around it'..

Do you know: how many copies come with the $65 fee? any idea?

THANKS!

Hello:
With SMP your $65 allows you to make as many copies as you like...but you are held responsible for the copies you make.  You can't loan them to anyone...they are yours alone.  Otherwise it would be a violation of copyright law.
This is contractual...which you must agree to.  Check out the SMP policies on their website:  www.smpjazz.com
Good luck...

I would suggest a great ballad of either Like Someone In Love or Smile.  Both are arranged by Steve Zegree and pubolished by Hal Leonard.  As a dad I used to sing Like Someone In Love to may daughter to help her fall asleep when she was a baby.

Anything arranged by Kirby Shaw would work. You can find his arrangements in multiple voicings. With tracks ...He has many acappella as well. Try jw pepper. There are usually recordings to listen to on the website.

Wanting Memories by Yasaye M. Barnwell of Sweet Honey in the Rock. http://www.jwpepper.com/3225760.item#.UzLWDfldV8E There is also a great video about the piece at http://youtu.be/EpiZ1bpGVVA. It's not exactly uptempo, but it's a great song.
