Southwestern Oklahoma State University's choral ensembles in the past ten years have performed at conferences of the Oklahoma Music Educator Association, College Music Society, and the Oklahoma Percussive Arts Society. Their members are TEXOMA and Oklahoma NATS finalists/winners, active opera workshop participants, and consistently collaborate with other ensembles at Southwestern to enrich the musical culture of western Oklahoma and beyond.
Southwestern Singers is the larger ensemble for talented majors and non-majors. They perform a minimum of four concerts per year, and also tour in the fall.
Chamber Choir is the smaller mixed ensemble that focuses on classical vocal chamber repertoire, small ensemble choral music, and frequently collaborates with the jazz program at Southwestern. Chamber Choir performs four concerts and the fall tour with Southwestern Singers and other engagements throughout Southwestern's music department, Weatherford, and beyond.
Community Chorus is the community ensemble consisting of majors, non-majors, and community members at Southwestern and beyond Weatherford. They sing two concerts per year, frequently singing a mixture of larger and smaller-scale works.
All students are eligible to sing in these ensembles. For non-majors, both Southwestern Singers and Chamber Choir are auditioned and require a one-year commitment to the group.
