Secular, a cappella, graduation music

Hello all.  I am looking for a graduation piece for my a cappella chamber choir.  They are a highly skilled group that can sing collegiate level works, including divisi.  I would like for it to be secular, or at least only hinting at the sacred, and in English.  Any help is appreciated!

Hi Michala, You might take a look at my arrangement of The Night is Young, a wonderful modern folk tune by the Irish singer Colum Sands. It has often been sung as a graduation tune due to its wonderful and a bit wistful lyrics. You can read more about it here

"The Parting Glass" is a lovely Irish folksong. We do a version by The Wailin' Jennys -- SSA. Could get you the transcription if you're interested. Here is our version:

I've got a piece that's perfect for graduation, called "Goodbye, Then." The premiere for the SATB version is happening in Texas next year, but I have an SAB version (well within the skill level of your group) that would be available for you to look at. It's scored for SAB, clarinet and piano. I can send you the perusal score if you're interested. The original TBB version is here:

I'd also be interested in making a more difficult a cappella version, if you think that might suit you. Let me know!

Thank you Tim.  It's a beautiful piece!  If you do an an SATB a cappella version I would certainly be interested, even for future years.  We are a small school, so we are not in a place to commission anything, but I would certainly purchase an existing piece!

I have used Salutation of the Dawn on a Sanskrit text in translation by Homer Keller (SATB, a capp; Ludwig); it's great for graduations.
Hope this helps,
