The St. Charles County Youth Choir (SCCYC) is planning its tenth year of providing challenging experience. The choir emphasizes healthy singing, Music literacy and lots of fun. Singers come from public, private and home schools from across the area. The choir performs sacred and secular repertoire, rounds, art songs from different time periods, arrangements of American folksongs and music from many world cultures.
The choir has achieved top ratings in annual competitions; performed with Casting Crowns, Columbia Honor Choir, St. Peters Choral Society Chattanooga Boys Choir, SCC Chamber Choir, Millikin Concert Youth Chorale and the Celts. Singers have worked with such renowned conductors as Rollo Dilworth and Charles Robinson. Each year, members have been selected for state and divisional honor choirs.
Cantabile is a treble choir for singers in third grade through middle school. It focuses on vocal independence, healthy production, part singing and score reading. It is open to boys and girls.
Cantiamo is an advanced SAB group for high school and exceptional middle school singers with strong music literacy. It will further develop artistic expression through the performance of challenging repertoire, diverse languages and
a cappella works. Boys and girls are welcome to audition.
We are hoping to add a third choir so that the middle school aged singers may have their own choir.
Singers will be placed in a group that is age and ability appropriate based on their audition, choral experience, vocal maturity, range and music literacy.
