Choral Scholar Positions SATB

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, USA

The Choral Scholar Program at All saints’ Episcopal Church is designed to provide a unique opportunity for choral students to experience fine sacred music in its original context.  Students chosen to participate in this program are with us two Sundays each month – October through April.  On the second Sunday of the month they sing as an ensemble by themselves, and on the fourth Sunday of the month they join the professional chamber choir to sing a Mass setting.  The choirs of All Saints are directed by Scott Youngs, who also directs the Arizona Bach Festival.  Singing with the choirs, particularly the  chamber choir, provides an opportunity for students to polish their choral skills with other outstanding musicians.  The repertoire chosen is not only of high caliber, but will provide students with a good base of choral literature when moving into professional positions.  The preparation of music is the responsibility of each individual student.  Our only rehearsal takes place only on the Sunday morning for which we sing.  While this is designed to be an educational endeavor, we do provide a small stipend of $25 to the singers for each Sunday morning that they are with us to cover travel costs and encouragement.  Membership in the Choral Scholar Program is open to upper high school and college students by the recommendation of their teacher.  We choose scholars by audition and interview so that we concur with the teacher’s recommendation and have the express understanding of our expectations from the scholars.  Further information is available from:
