CANTO A ROME FESTIVAL featuring a performance of Carl Orff’s masterpiece, Carmina Burana at the Chiostro del Buon Pastore (Cloister of the Good Shepard) in ROME, ITALY on July 4, 2015
We invite outstanding choral ensembles to the Eternal City for rehearsals, and a special gala performance in one of Rome’s historic venues, the Chiostro del Buon Pastore (Cloister of the Good Shepard), a wonderful Cloister, with fantastic acoustics (Outdoor).
This 4-day Festival allows choral ensembles to participate in rehearsals and culminating festival chorus performance, with professional orchestra and soloists, of Orff’s Carmina Burana, under the direction of our Festival Conductor, Dr. John Ratledge, Director of Choral Activities at the University of Alabama.
Festival participation is open to outstanding High School, Collegiate, and Community ensembles of all sizes. Registration Deadline is October 15, 2014. SPACE IS LIMITED!
Additional solo performances for participating ensembles are available at area churches during the Festival dates. Enjoy giving a performance at Sant’Agnese in Agone in Piazza Navona or providing the music at a Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica (by audition).
Ensembles may choose to participate in the “FESTIVAL ONLY” 4-night package or allow us to customize an extended Pre- or Post-Tour to include sights and performances in cities like Siena, Assisi, Florence, Lucca, Verona, and Venice.
