A Vocal and Choral Collage

August 24, 2016 -

Going Beyond Words w/ Stan Schmidt Show 2241 – A Vocal and Choral Collage This week on Going Beyond Words, host Stan Schmidt invites you to enjoy

I'm looking for Magnificat settings for treble voices - not necessarily settings of the entirety of the Magnificat text, but at least portions/movements of the whole Magnificat. So far I have:
Kim André Arnesen
Vivaldi - Esurientes implevit bonis
Porpora
Palestrina
J. S. Bach - Suscepit Israel
Who am I missing? In particular I'd love to add some 19th century composers to this list. Thanks in advance for your help!

Elizabeth DiMarinoMy treble choir performed Vivaldi's Et Exultavit last year and although it is a unison setting, there are wonderful teaching opportunities in that piece. It's a great choice for even an experienced and/or advanced choir.

The ACDA Honor Choir made up of the top high school singers from all across the U.S. came together in Washington, D.C. for three days of rehearsals, sightseeing, and a sold-out concert in Old Town Alexandria before departing on a concert tour of Prague, Salzburg, and Vienna. All of the concert venues were at full capacity and people were turned away at both the kick-off concert in Alexandria and at the first concert in Prague! Other highlights include a wonderful exchange with a school just outside of Salzburg, impromptu singing at various sights along the Sound of Music Tour, and a workshop and concert with Insingizi, a trio from Zimbabwe based in Vienna. Post-tour communication with ACDA include reports of strong friendships forged during the tour and plans for choir members to reconnect at upcoming regional conferences.
