WomenSing’s Fall Fundraising Gala, ‘The Water Is Wide’
Sunday, October 2, 4:30pm-7:30pm
WomenSing’s annual fall fundraiser, “The Water Is Wide,” promises to be our best yet! The gala will feature silent and live auctions, with prizes ranging from trips to jewelry to fabulous gift baskets, along with the sumptuous food and delicious wine for which WomenSing’s galas are noted.
The featured performer will be the inspiring singer/songwriter David Lamotte. The Boston Globe writes that Mr. Lamotte’s music “pushes the envelope with challenging lyrics and unusual tunings, but also pays homage to folk tradition,” while BBC Radio Belfast has described him as offering “charm, stories, humor, insightful songs, sweet voice, and dazzling guitar ability.”
The gala kicks off the group’s 51st season, “Endless Song,” which will navigate the many facets of choral “water music,” by exploring the connection between the water that flows through our lives, and the endless music that flows through our souls.
Funds raised go to support WomenSing and its community outreach programs, including WomenShare, which offers complimentary concert tickets to underserved communities, and WomenSingforLife, which offers the experience of a singing community to those who have limited access to choral music.
