MEET THE COMPOSER!
Acappellago, led by music director, Dennis R. Smith, is please to announce that Edie Hill will be in attendance at our upcoming March 18 & 19 concerts. Also, in attendance at the Saturday, 3/18, concert will be Chicago composer, Michael Wolniakowski.
Acappellago, including singers from all over the western suburbs and currently in its 15th season, will present two performances of its annual spring concert. The first performance of “Escape to…Birdland” will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 7:30 pm in the Event Hall at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st Street, Oak Brook. This program will be repeated on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 4:00 pm at the Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Avenue (Route 31), across from the Batavia Public Library.
Whether it is a bevy of swans, a flight of doves or a watch of nightingales, our March concert will a bird-watcher’s delight. This aviary of song includes Charles Villiers Stanford’s beloved “The Blue Bird,” the Beatles’ “Blackbird,” celebrations of our feathered friends by Mendelssohn, Ravel and Chicago composer Michael Wolniakowski, and the world premiere of “Wild Wooddove” by Minnesota composer Edie Hill. And of course, “Lullaby of Birdland”!
