The Association of Lutheran Church Musicians awards the Raabe Prize for Excellence in Composition.
“The Raabe Prize for Excellence in Sacred Composition is awarded every two years for a single musical work, published or unpublished and written within the last five years, that reflects a larger history of excellence on the part of the composer.”
We are more than excited to announce that this year the award went to Erik Meyer for his “St. John’s Passion.” Erik is a fantastic composer, organist, and all around great guy. If you are a church musician and unaware of his work, you need to get to know it. It is well crafted music that is also practical. That’s a quality that is difficult to find in today’s world. Kurt is actually going to do his Lydian Suite for Flute and Organ at church in a few months.
In addition to Erik winning the top prize, Ryan Keebaugh won an honorable mention for “The Suffering Servant.” Ryan brings a deep spirituality to his composition that grows out of his daily meditation practice. His work is always profound and beautiful.

The amazing thing is that two out of the three are MusicSpoke composers! You people are changing the world by writing beautiful music, and we are so honored to give you a platform that treats you with respect while you distribute your imaginative sounds.
