Western Michigan University offers its inaugural Summer Sing with Dr. Kimberly Dunn Adams, Director of Choral Activities, conducting two masterworks.
Everyone is welcome to sing the Mozart Requiem on Thursday, June 9 and the Fauré Requiem on Wednesday, July 27.
Summer Sing is a fun evening of music making that requires no auditions, no rehearsals and won’t break the bank. It’s also a wonderful way to experience great choral literature in a low-pressure and low-commitment setting — or for experienced choral singers to keep those chops up during the summer months!
Registration begins at 6:30 PM in the Recital Hall of the Dalton Center with a suggested donation of $5. Bring a friend and a score — or scores are available to rent for an additional $5. The singing begins at 7:00 PM with a brief warm-up and rehearsal, followed by a short break. A full sing-through “performance” of the entire piece begins at 7:45pm.
The proceeds from these events directly benefit WMU students as they raise funds for an international tour in 2017. If you are unable to attend either event but would like to contribute — or be notified of future concerts and events — please contact Kimberly Dunn Adams for more information at http://wmich.edu/choralstudies/.
Ya’ll come sing!
