I have observed many comments on vibrato versus straight-toned choral singing, a good number of which compare the voice to orchestral instruments, especially strings. As one who both teaches voice and conducts choral ensembles, I would simply like to state that such comparisons are eroneous...

Let children's voices mature naturally and without force, realizing that each voice is individual and matures at its own individual rate, including the presence of vibrato. Be careful of quasi-scientific advice which has no basis in fact.    Happy Singing, John
