Comment: Re: Avsenik Medley arr. Tomaz Kozlevcar
According to a Facebook post from a high school choarl teacher in PA over a year ago, the arrangements are not released, nor do they plan to release them. Too bad, I would love to sing some of them.   Here's the original post & reply on FB:   http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=269...
Comment: Re: A reality show we can believe in
Count me in for a another disappointed viewer in Thomas' camp. But I take the view that any good publicity is great publicity, so I'm glad to know that the show is being shown, and I will watch all the episodes.   I am disappointed - but I can understand why it was done - that the pro...
Comment: Re: A reality show we can believe in
Oh, btw, this may not be the place for it, and i don't know if the news has already been posted, but The Sing Off has been approved for (and already held auditions for) its second season. That word came from Deke, who was involved in the auditions process (judging, I think).
Comment: Re: You know you're a choir nerd when...
...you can pay off your mortgage with the nickels received from each person who sent you the link to SNC's "12 Daze of Xmas" video.   ...someone mentions singing 'Hallelujah" and your first thought is "Thompson or Boyce", not Leonard Cohen
Comment: Re: Suggestions for Secular Unison/2 part children's chorus
I have a bunch of rather old Novello "School Songs" form England which are unison & two-part. If you send me your address (I'm at my last name at gmail) I can send you some.
Comment: Re: Need HS men's quartet contest piece ASAP
As John Howell said, it would really help to know what sort of contest this is. BHS is very different from IHSCA.   I would add CHing a RIng Chaw by Copland and La Pastorella by Schubert to the list, and these are some contemporary favorites:   Mood Indigo, arr George Van Leaman, Gotham Music 193...
Comment: Re: Looking for: Men's gospel piece for young college ensemble
May I recommend the Yale Glee Club series "De Animals a-Comin"?? Fairly easy but lots of fun. Humble, from the same series, is also a good number.   Boosey & Hawkes used to have a TTBB version of Copland's Ching-a-rung-chaw. but it may be out of print.   Best of luck,   Paul Sinasohn      ...
Comment: Re: Stephen Foster arrangements
I've got a TTBB arrangement of "If you've Only Got A Moustache" someplace in my files. I'm sure it's out of print, and I don't remember the arranger, but I coudl find it and send a photocp[y for research purposes if you want.   Paul Sinasohn
Comment: Re: "Love" Song Suggestions
I would like to add a third recommendation for the Mulholland Red Red Rose.   Paul Sinasohn
Comment: Re: Nintendo A Cappella for mixed choir
The group in the red & black outfits on YouTUbe is 'Redefined', based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On their contact page, they explicitly state that they cannot release the Nintendo arrangement under any circumstances.   http://uwredefined.com/contact/   As David has suggested, rot...
Forum message: Reconstruction / Victorian singing societies and a Lovecraftian bonus
Hi all,   I'm de-lurking to see if I can get some pointers to sources for information on MIXED VOICE reconstruction or Victorian singing societies.   I'm completely familiar with men's glee clubs and the "Family SIngers" groups that toured during reconstruction (usually with a Temperance or Christ...
Comment: Re: Flight of the Bumblebee
IIRC, Bob Chilcott's arrangement is available, and is used more often than the Swingle.
Comment: Re: Very Cool Choir
Och, David,   It nae matters wha' the number o' singers be on a part (Arvo or otherwise). Choral Harmony be Choral Harmony were it one or a thousand.   'Twere a fine line ye be walkin' wit' yer distinctions :-)   Where be this definition what specifies that a choir must have more than one on a ...

Comment: Re: RHYTHMIC works for choir, with or without text, spoken and/or sung
Well, I've used the opening scene from "The Music Man" (published as "Rock Island") with a choir. It's the scene where all the salesmen are complaining about Harlod Hill, and has words. Though it is all men in the movie, I re-arranged it for mixed voices. This was for a company choir, and they liked...
