Comment: Re: Crud, I'm in the"B" choir now!
Maybe the B choir needs a new identity – something its members can be proud of.  You might look at repertoire that's different from the A choir's style.  Maybe "Hist Whist" (speech choir & percussion) by Robert William Jones; "Old Abram Brown" (or other selections from Friday Afternoons) b...

Comment: Re: MS choir needs more volume!

Comment: Re: Finding Head Voice in High School
Humming is pretty effective, I've found.  You can do it on an [m], [n], or [ng]. Hum lightly and smoothly. She could have an Emma Kirkby kind of voice (really light, high, and sweet).  Maybe some recordings would help, too, or some of your other girls. Get them all humming together.  Hold the h...

Because many of us have experienced Bach's B-minor mass (and Palestrina and Bruckner and Kodaly) as performers, we've gone to spiritual places unknown to many of the people in the pews. Yet, isn't it a significant part of our job to minister to them? To provide musical experiences in the church that...

Comment: Re: Teaching the Latin "e"
Ask them to sing "yes" with bright eyes and encouraging faces. Or "yes, yes, YES!" This can produce a forward vowel, and if they keep their back teeth high and wide, and avoid grinning, you might get what you want. Best of luck!
