The Connecticut Master Chorale, under the direction of Tina Johns Heidrich, will present its 20th annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 7, at 3 pm at the First Congregational Church, 164 Deer Hill Avenue, Danbury. The program will feature a remarkable new work, Requiem for Solace by Kim André Arnesen and three glorious works by Dan Forrest: Te Deum, In Paradisum and Psalm of Ascension.
Requiem for Solace, intended to bring comfort and hope to the living, combines the Latin texts with a poem by Emily Dickinson and a traditional Jewish prayer. This is exquisite music, filled with drama, that is deeply moving and lyrical. From the very first moments one is drawn into the beauty of the work, beginning with the opening Requiem Aeternum, to the vibrance and energy of the Dies Irae and Sanctus, and a sublime Pie Jesu, ending with the touching peacefulness of We Remember Them.
Dan Forrest’s Te Deum, In Paradisum and Psalm of Ascension are perfect examples of his superb choral writing. His music has been described as “full of spine-tingling moments”, and he has been one of our favorites since we first discovered his music a few years ago. This is our response to those who enjoyed the previous Chorale concerts with his Requiem for the Living in 2015 and Jubilate Deo! in 2018 and have made many requests for more Dan Forrest!
