I direct at a high school that has a Chamber Choir with four women. They are strong singers. The prepackaged tours want 10 or more students in the choir. Does anyone have suggestions? We are near Seattle but the students would like to travel somewhere – Hawaii, New York, or Boston.
My advice- skip the festivals. There are many, many music schools in the areas you wish to visit that have great choral programs, and there are many choral directors at those institutions that would love to have a clinic for your great students. Your students will get a rich and personal musical experience while also having the opportunity to visit a great college campus. And you’ll likely get more for your money.
If you’d like the name of a great student travel agency that our school has worked with numerous times, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Good morning. I am Jack Kukuk, Director of Voices Without Borders, a Michigan Non-profit that produces a choir festival and also is the parent organization for a small treble choir. On the even numbered years, we produce the Children of the World in Harmony International Youth Choir & Dance Festival in and around Petoskey, Michigan. Please see the festival website at http://www.vwbchoir.com On the odd numbered years, we either take our choir on tour or we engage in some other special project. This next summer, we are planning to host a choir from Hanoi, Vietnam for a few days. This group has participated in our festival twice in the past six years and we had take singers from another choir to Hanoi a fes years ago. I wonder if your girls would like to join our choir and the Vietnamese group.
