SSA Stars (very short but so fun!) - SSA L. Kuzmenko (Boosey & Hawkes - part of the Doreen Rao choral series) Ask the Moon - Ron Nelson (I think... it was quite a few years ago) is a wonderful unison (maybe some two part) selection. Ruth Artmans' ssa Stopping by the Woods is nice. The Bells - Frank Ahrold (I think) is a fun satb setting. *********** Sure on this Shining Night (Barber - can be done unison but there's a lovely SATB and SA arrangement by Emily Crocker). We did holiday music that mentioned day or night, but also non-holiday stuff like Schubert's Die Nacht, and his Standchen, Greg Gilpin's Home On the Range, and an arr. Of Bridge Over Troubled Water. We included Holst's Christmas Day, Rene Clausen's O Holy Night, Brightest and Best, Silent Night, ********* Vincent (Starry Starry Night)" is a beautiful song, as I'm sure you know. There is an arrangement available through Hal Leonard. I know it's not really wintery. ********* Denise Rippentrop - (Beautiful Star Publishers) - For Sun, Moon, and Stars - great piece for advanced level! ********* Jonathan Dove's "Seek him that maketh the seven stars" is a killer. Ecstatic and gorgeous. The text is from the old testament: "Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night" Pub by Peters. SATB. The accomp is organ, but could be done piano 3 hands. SA -- Sure on this Shining Night Samuel Barber. The songs relate to the Wintu Indians' belief that after death their spirits travel along the Milky Way to their final resting place.
