Thank you to all who replied and all who thought through their repertoire. Rebecca R. Winnie I think I have an interesting and unusal one for you. Boosey & Hawkes publishes YA FARAOULE by a terrific Canadian composer, Stephen Hatfield. It's based on traditional Lebanese and Egyptian folk songs and it's arranged for solo voices, 4 part treble chorus, percussion and optional flute and oboe. The composer writes: 'YA FARAOULE (ya fah-rahw-lay) literally means "Oh strawberry!" and is a reference to the red cheeks and heightened color caused when love is in the blood. A phrase often connected with saluting the bride at weddings.' It's order number is OCTB6760. Performance time: ca. 6 minutes. Regards, Harry Searing, sales manager Boosey & Hawkes, Inc. **** Dear Rebecca, For more literature, contact my friend and colleage Dr. Joanna Medawar Nachef. She is the California ACDA Chair of Ethnic and Multicultural Perspectives. She teaches at California State University, Dominguez Hills (in the Los Angeles area). She is from Lebanon, and has a wealth of Lebanese choral music. Please include me in your posting of your collected repertoire. With thanks. Dr. Ron Kean ACDA National Chair of Ethnic and Multicultural Perspectives Professor of Music Bakersfield College, Bakersfield, Ca. **** I checked by curiosity to see what is to be found in Musica Intl database. Not an easy question, as these countries are essentially moslem, therefore monodic cultures. I got however some answers (Israel is excluded).
