By Paul Ayers. and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. By Paul Ayers. paulayers(a)clara.net or website http:home.clara.net/paulayers. One of the funniest songs I've ever done with kids is a song called "Fruitcake." I highly recommend it. I saw it performed with the singers wearing those costume glasses with the nose and mustache attached. They came onstage with their backs to the audience. Then those singing each part turn around to face the audience as they sang their part. I know this is a little hard to picture without seeing the music. My students beg me to do this piece every year. It was VERY hard to find because it is an old piece and was originally published by Pro Art. It is now published by Warner Brothers: Fruitcake--words and music by Philip Hagemann and Penny Leka. Warner Brothers Publications PROCH02276 It's for 5-part female voices, but I've seen it done with all voice types. Merry Christmas! If you don't know Bob Chilcott's 12 Days of Christmas, run to Oxford & get it. Will bring down the house. Piano & 2 percussionists. A real crowd pleaser and well written. |
