Song for the Mira
I am posting the results of my inquiry into "Song of the Mira" at several listers' request. Many thanks to all who responded - I am grateful for the help.
The Mira is a river in Cape Breton...one of the most beautiful places in Canada. (and I'm not even a Cape Bretoner!) Marion Bridge is a village which the Mira flows through and incidentally where Allister McGillivray lives. And Oak Island is an island off the Nova Scotia coast where the legendary pirate, Captain Kidd is supposed to have buried his treasure.
After reading several descriptions of this place, I would like nothing better than to "run away" (we have little more than two weeks of classes left - I'm sure many of you can empathize) and visit this place. It sound quite beautiful!

Colleagues,
As usual, the list proved to be a valuable resource. It was nearly unanimous that Mira is pronounced as a long 'i' as in eye. Thanks to all who responded.
