Received a lot of comments about Brubeck's "La Fiesta del Posada". Those
who performed it enjoyed it but most found it quite a challenge for both
instrumentalists and choir. The instrumentalists must really know what they
are doing and have a feeling for style (i.e. the string players play
mariachi style - not with lots of vibrato). Several felt that the voicings
are extreme. Several performed it with costumes and movement (not a formal
choir-in-robes kinda thing). One person actually performed it with Brubeck
himself who did marvelous jazz improvizations on the piano. Most said they
would probably not perform it again. Only one person said that she has done
it several times.
