The Last MessageDate: April 12, 2009
All Choralist and ChoralTalk subscribers-- Effective immediately, Choralist and ChoralTalk are now closed to new postings. This is the last message you'll receive on Choralist and ChoralTalk--but don't despair! The announcements you've been making on Choralist, and the discussions you've been having on ChoralTalk, can continue in earnest on the newly relaunched ChoralNet site beginning this Wednesday, April 15. A quick FAQ just to make things clear for everyone: q: I'm waiting eagerly for the new site! Is there anything I need to do between now and then to make sure I get subscribed and all that? a: You'll receive a message sometime in the next few days with login information for your account on the new ChoralNet site. Make sure to save this message. Apart from that, we'll be moving your existing Choralist and/or ChoralTalk subscription over to the new site automatically, so you don't need to do anything. q: I've subscribed to topics on Choralist, and/or digests and index subscriptions on ChoralTalk. Will I lose all of this? a. Probably not. We will be subscribing you to areas on the new site that closely match your ChoralTalk and Choralist subscription preferences. If you subscribed with index or digest options, we'll preserve those options. Note that the formats for index and digest subscriptions will change--we hope you like the new format, and if you have any questions or comments, please let us know. q: I had to 'whitelist' Choralist and ChoralTalk mail in my spam filter. What's going to change? a: Rather than sending through listserv.indiana.edu, ChoralNet mail will be sent from a choralnet.org mail server. You will probably want to whitelist any mail received from any mail server within the choralnet.org domain. We'll likely be changing IP addresses in the next few days as well, so you'll want to make sure you whitelist the domain, not individual IPs. (If this last section sounds like technical gobbledegook to you, don't worry about it). q: I participated in the ChoralNet beta. What will happen to my account? a: We'll reset your subscriptions to match your settings on Choralist and ChoralTalk, but outside of that, nothing. You'll still be able to use your new ChoralNet login after release. q: I recently posted to ChoralTalk or Choralist. Will people be able to reply to my message, and will I be able to see the replies? a: Absolutely--after April 15! We hope you enjoy the new site. Here's to many more fruitful discussions, and we hope to see all of you participating on the new site in a few days! -= Martin Knowles, ChoralNet Manager - manager(a)choralnet.org -= ChoralNet: the Internet Center for Choral Music. http://www.choralnet.org
