Editing my page

I have now successfully registered and arrived at my own page, but when I attempted to add my website URL to the "Edit Links" function, it won't go to the site when clicked. I get a message from my browser saying that the page can't be found. FYI, the URL is:

http://deanestabrook.googlepages.com/home

Dean M. Estabrook

I see the problem, Dean. It appears that you omitted the colon in the "http://" at the beginning of your URL. The resulting URL, complete with the "http://" added by the system is:

So...try doing another edit and either get rid of the faulty "http//" or replace it with "http://"

Thanks David ... I'll see what I can do.  BTW ... a VERY impressive site ... congrats!

Hey David ... it works now ... thank you. Actually, when I entered my URL, for some reason it was doubling the http   etc.,  entering it twice. So I just entered it this time and erased that part, and it came out correctly. I'm not sure why, but ... it worked. So, thanks again. Now, can I get my embedded photo on my page also?  Not that anyone deserves to see it, but .... what ever.

Congrats again,

Hi David,

I think it is wonderful to have our own page to "help people get to know us".  I have a few ideas for mine but wanted to see what others are doing first before I did anything.  How do I get to other folks pages ?

Try clicking on their name, Marie.  For instance, on this page . . . click on David Topping's name . . . or mine.

Thank you Philip!

I did click on your name and David's and Dean's!  It's nice to be able to put a face on a name after all these years.  I will post my stuff soon.  This is going to be new and fun.  Luckily, I have time this week to fool around with it.

Also, once you're looking at one user page (even your own) you can click on the word Users in Home > Users right underneath the navigation tabs and get to a list of users.

Thank you, Allen, I will try that.  I just created my user page and am so proud of myself!  I still have to figure out how to get my chamber choir's website to be a link but I will keep at it.  This is really wonderful.  I do have to say, I WAS a little silly but am having fun.  I did click on your user page as well.  Nice to "meet" you!

...but that's a rather "sideways" method of getting there. There should really be either a Users tab or at least a link on the Home page.

I mentioned that same thing, David, but Allen reminded me that nobody scrolls through a list of names anymore.  They simply do a search!  Use the search function of the website and anyone you're looking for will pop up.  Click on the link with "User: " in front of it and you'll be taken to their user page.  When I typed in "Topping", I saw  "User: Topping" as the second listing on the search results.
