"By Local: Songs of California Composers," Saturday May 2, 2009, 7:30 p.m. St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 1111 O'Farrell, San Francisco, CA.
The International Orange Chorale is a San Francisco-based community chorus of 26 members, dedicated to promoting the choral arts in the San Francisco Bay area. Concerts are always free, and always an adventure! This season, the choir turned its attention to the wealth of repertoire from California composers because there's just no place like home. Come enjoy the energy and grace of music by beloved California composers such as Emma Lou Diemer, Eric Whitacre, Robin Estrada, and Halsey Stevens, and share in our excitement as we premiere gorgeous new pieces by Jake Heggie, Shaffer McGee, Georgia Stitt, Eric Tamm, and Zane Fiala.
This dynamic set includes settings of poetry by Edmund Waller, Emily Dickinson, and five different verses from the Rubaiyyat of Omar Khayyam. Sound samples at http://www.iocsf.org/listen.php Can't make it Saturday night? Join us Friday, May 1st at 5pm for a free solarium concert, at 55 2nd Street in the Solarium (past the elevators).
