Types of booklets for introduction

Hello choral world.

My company, the Icelandic Music Information Centre is currently planning to publish booklets with CD's for introducing Icelandic choral music to the world. We made 3 such booklets for the World Choral Symposium in Copenhagen last year, one with mixed choir secular songs, another also mixed choir but sacred and the third one was for equal voices. Those were mainly songs and shorter works.

The booklets were very well received so now we'd like to make some more types. What would people be most interested in hearing about? We're thinking larger works maybe, with and without instruments/orchestra, maybe graded by how difficult the pieces are, and maybe more.

I'd be very grateful to hear what and if people would be interested in.

(yeah, and if anybody wants, you can of course get the booklets, both old and new, sent to you free of charge. Just let me know)

What a fascinating name you have. I would love to receive a copy of your book if that would be possible? It sounds great. It would be good to be doing Icelandic tunes in Australia, too.

Just to be a bit clearer, the booklets don't contain whole pieces but (normally) the first page and about 30 secs of music from each piece on the CD. But ought to be enough for people to know if they like the pieces. Of course if you pick a piece in Icelandic to perform, you can get a translation of the content, it's always nicer to know what you'll be singing about. We haven't made sound files of the pronunciation yet, but that's one of the ideas, if we can get the funding.

My choirs are particularly interested in new repetoire. We have had exchange students who have introduced songs from Norway, Japan, Latvia, Bulgaria and Holland which we have performed in those languages. We have a large mixed choir, a mixed chamber ensemble and a 40-50 voice Women's Chorale. Yes, larger works, accompanied or not, would be very welcome. Especially welcome would be works of upto 20 minutes in length for any voicing.

Hello!

Great idea - and I would be interested in children's songs, music for children's choirs, unison or two-part, with piano or a few instruments for accompaniment. Folk songs would also be of interest.

Having good translations (literal the most helpful) and resources for pronunciation is most important.

Thanks everyone, here and the ppl that sent me private posts on the matter, quite a few. We'll work on this, see if we get money for more types and in the meantime we'll send the books and CD's we already got :)
