Kantorei presents Rachmaninoff "All Night Vigil" (Denver, CO)

Location: Colorado, USA
Choir type: Community Choirs
Voicing: Mixed
Kantorei brings its season to a close with a powerful evening including a Russian choral masterwork and American contemporary gems. Composed in 1915, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s All Night Vigil (or Vespers) serves as the quintessential music of the Russian Orthodox Church. Thick-textured and rich, the work utilizes low voices in the choir to create a majestic, commanding sound. Kantorei will feature six movements from this timeless work. We'll finish off the concert with both introspective and light-hearted pieces by contemporary American composers including René Clausen, Stephen Chatman and Aaron Copland.
