Possible Literature for Christmas Concert

A collegue of mine has asked for some help. Here is his message:
I've been meaning to ask you if you might have a suggestion for a longer work for the next River City Chorale Christmas concert.  I'm looking for something older and traditional.  We’ve done the Magnificats by J.C. Bach, Pergolisi and Galuppi, the Vivaldi Gloria and the J.S. Bach For Us a Child is Born.  I’m looking for something else similar to those.  English or Latin, mostly SATB, but some solos, preferably short are okay

I’ve done some newer works and have been looking at Ceremony of Carols and the Pinkham Christmas Cantata, but find I’m ready to do something older again.

If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate them.

I know this doesn't quite fit the description, but since I was a high school singer under the fabulous direction of Jack Carey (either a founder and/or early director of the River City Chorale), I have to mention one of his traditions. Every Christmas concert would include all the choirs combining to present the wonderful "Twas the Night Before Christmas," by Simeone and Darby (recorded by Fred Waring & the Pennsylvanians).

If you don't know it, get your hands on it! It's got really fun solos for S, A, T, and B, and it's jubilantly holidayish. A musical confection if ever there was one. Both singers and audiences LOVE it!

This post's for you, Jack; thanks for instilling me with a lifelong love of choral music and camaraderie!
