Singing City Announces 2010 Prize for Young Composers Competition
Date: June 19, 2009
Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Singing City invites high school and college age musicians to submit original choral compositions. Submitted works will undergo a rigorous jury process, after which winners and runners up will be chosen in each of two categories. Cash prizes will be awarded. The competition will be adjudicated by a professional panel selected by Singing City; panelists will be assessing the originality and craftsmanship of the music. First Prize compositions will be performed at Singing City’s Youth Concert, held in March 2010 in Philadelphia, or at a later date. Winners will also benefit from a one-year mentorship with a professional musician. Deadline for submission is December 4, 2009. This year’s competition will use Ode by Arthur O’Shaughnessy as the text (first three verses).
