Black is the Color - Favorite arrangement?

Good evening!

I'd like to hear opinions on what you think is the most stirring arrangement out there of "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair."  My community group will be performing this for a February concert.  Thanks!

Hi, Dan.

If you have a good clarinetist at your disposal, I highly recommend Rene Clausen's setting. It's beautiful and haunting.

Hi Dan:
Jacques Rizzo, one of the world's most prolific arrangers, has created a unique rendition of this chessnut, Black Is The Color.
You can check it out by going to www.smpjazz.com

Dan, my choice - if your choir is comfortable a cappella - is Norman Luboff's arrangement, published by Walton.  Spell-binding.

Dan, I seem to remember an absolutely gorgeous arrangement by Roger Wagner.  You might contact Jeannine Wagner for more information.

I've just ordered Stuart Churchill's arrangement.  I'm a fan of folk song arrangements that alloow the tune to speak for itself.  This is beautiful, simple, but still artistic.  It's been recording by the Nova Singers, IL.

I'm a big fan of Gene Puerling's arrangement for the Hi-Lo's. Haunting. You can see it performed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Pwtx3Ix6qQ

Of course, it's TTBB, but it's great writing.

I also can't refuse the opportunity to plug my own arrangement - I wrote this for Treble choir a couple years ago. You can hear a recording of it at my myspace page - www.myspace.com/NathanielAdams - it's the 4th track down.

Cheers,
