Sesere Eeye Text

Hello: I have searched all over and can not find a translation for the Torres Straight Islands folk song Sesere Eeye. In the forward, it says that the heritage of their song includes the facets of everyday life - fishing, weather, the sea, agriculture, etc., but never says what this particular song is about. The choir will connect better with the piece if we all knew what it meant.

Thank you -

Tom, if you get this information, could you send it on to me also? Thank you!

I've never seen a full translation either, but I understand it's a song about the wind.

I remember hearing Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus (now Anima Singers) perform this piece a few years ago. Their director, Emily Ellsworth, mentioned that they initially learned it orally from an Australian choir while on tour. Emily Ellsworth may be able to give you the information or direct you to the choir they learned it from.
