Workshop for Beginning Choral Teachers

Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions for actvities which can educate and support new, mostly ad hoc choirs here.

Last spring we had a first  festival/competition for school choirs, and groups came out of the woodwork. Most were ad hoc, and sang in unison.   Thus, I now have a good contact list of teachers who have some interest in preparing choirs.  Few to none of them have significant choral teaching or conducting experience, thus this workshop can be of great value to them.   The activities need to support their efforts at school, keeping in mind that their groups are almost all extra-curricular, and many ad  hoc.

I am looking for specific activities which address, at the adult beginner level:

1. Choral tone and voice building
2. Rhythmic acuity, and ensemble unity
3. Team building
4. Any pieces on cpdl which would be useful in this workshop, to read, work with and possibly perform in a casual concert at the end of the day.  Two, three, and four parts textures would all be great.

Thanks very much!
