Tours and Taxes

What has been your experience with touring overseas with your students.  As a cultural/educational experience, is any portion of the tour cost tax deductable (for the student)?  Is there a difference if they are a dependent on their parents tax return versus if they file an individual return?  Specific forms to file?  Thanks for any advice!

I can't think of any reason why any of it would be tax-deductible. IRS publication 529 says "You cannot deduct the cost of travel that in itself constitutes a form of education." Pretty much no educational expense is deductible unless it's some kind of continuing education required to keep current in your job, and that would hardly apply to choir participation.
