The University of Notre Dame
Master of Sacred Music Degree
A Catholic Program Training Musicians for Christian Worship
The Master of Sacred Music at Notre Dame is a two-year applied program that prepares students for pastoral liturgical music ministry. We strive to integrate the musical, liturgical, and pastoral dimensions of study, especially as delineated in the USCCB documents Sing to the Lord and Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, and the documents of Vatican II.
Our expanding program offers:
• A professional level of musical training in either choral-vocal music or organ studies;
• A working knowledge of the worship life of the major Christian faith traditions;
• Gregorian chant, congregational psalmody, liturgical song, and the treasury of sacred music;
• Informed, pastoral approaches to issues of inculturation;
• Full tuition and salaried supervised placements for all students.
Application deadline: February 1, 2010.
