"Rosa Sat" - a song celebrating Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Barack Obama. SSAA, SATB, TTBBDate: December 30, 2009
"Rosa Sat", written by Amy Dixon-Kolar after the election of Barack Obama, was inspired by the quote:
"Rosa sat so Martin could walk, Martin walked so Barack could run, Barack ran so our children could fly."
After performing this song on Chicago's NPR radio station on inauguration day, Amy's song started to receive attention on YouTube. It quickly spread throughout the world and to date has received a quarter-million hits. It came to the attention of MUSE, the Cincinnati Women's choir, who commissioned J. David Moore to score the song for performance. It has since been scored by Moore for SSAA, SATB and TTBB.
"Rosa Sat" has been performed by choirs big and small, including MUSE, Anna Crusis, the Seattle Women's Chorus, the Voices of Kentuckia, The Grand Rapids Women's Chorus, a number of church choirs, and school choirs from pre-school through university.
