The North Shore Unitarian Church Choir, under the direction of Wayland Rogers, and guest soprano, Rosalind Lee, will present a service of music and readings honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, Jan 17 at 9:15 and 11:15. The church is located at 2100 Half Day Rd. Deerfield, Il., 30 minutes north of Chicago.
Ms Lee, the adult and childrens' choirs will offer music by African American composers Glenn Burleigh, H.T Burleigh, Andre Thomas, Florence Price, Moses Hogan, Thomas A. Dorsey, John Rosamond Johnson, and Wendell Whalum, with poetry by Langston Hughes, James Weldon Johnson and others.
