The Associazione Rome Festival Coro Volontario Internazionale - International Volunteer Chorus invites volunteer choral singers from around the world to join in its professional level performances of great works by Verdi, Donizetti, Bizet, and others with the reknown Rome Festival Orchestra (27 June to 12 July, 2010). The Rome Festival has been continuously compared favorably to the prestigious Rome Opera.
WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A VOLUNTEER CHORAL SINGER
You will live in the heart of the inspirational historic center of Rome. You will choose from several lodging options.
With the Rome Festival Concert Chorus you will rehearse daily and perform two to four works with the Rome Festival Orchestra and two to six works for chorus alone or with piano under the artistic leadership of Maestro Fritz Maraffi and other international conductors.
In the summer of 2010 you will perform with the Rome Festival Concert Chorus and Rome Festival Orchestra: Beloved Choruses of Opera and Oratorio by Italian composers, Verdi, Donizetti, and Puccini (as excerpts in a gala concert of favorite Italian choral music).
You will participate in diction classes.
If you request the opportunity, you will sing in vocal master classes.
You may request the opportunity of performing on-stage in the opera "L'elisir d'amore" by Donizetti.
If you conduct, you may participate in the conductors' seminar.
You will visit the cultural treasures of the "eternal city" to learn how they inspired composers.
You will meet instrumentalists, singers, and ballet dancers from all over the United States, Italy, and at least nine other countries. Through these artists you will network worldwide.
No matter what language you speak, the success of the Rome Festival depends on the groups of dedicated, hard-working volunteers from all countries, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Choral volunteers range in age from their late teens to their sixties.
You will volunteer either to the Associazione Rome Festival which is the not-for-profit Italian cultural charity which sponsors the Rome Festival or to the Rome Festival Orchestra, Ltd.,
a 501-c-3 performing educational charity in the USA (fully recognized by the IRS).
FOR SINGERS WHO ARE CITIZENS OF THE USA OR ITALY: As a volunteer, all your travel expenses are considered a charitable contribution and are income tax deductible. When you return home, upon successful completion of your volunteer service, you will be sent a letter thanking you for working as a volunteer.
FOR SINGERS WHO ARE CITIZENS OF OTHER COUNTRIES: The Rome Festival will collaborate with your local charity. When you return home, upon successful completion of your volunteer service, you will be sent a letter thanking you for working as a volunteer.
