"Beliebig Fullen: Fill as Desired"--Amy x Neuburg and Solstice Jan 23, 24, 29Date: January 13, 2010 Views: 1464 Location: California, USA Choir type: Chamber Choirs and Vocal Ensembles Voicing: Women
National top three a cappella champions Solstice will be
joining award-winning avant-pop composer, vocalist and looping
artist Amy X Neuburg to Sing Neuburg. The work premiered to great
acclaim at the Jewish Music Festival. The Oberlin-trained Neuburg
had been commissioned by the Festival to create new music based on
recipies that prisoners at the Terezin concentration camp
exchanged. Sounds depressing, right? You’re cueing the violins,
right? You can turn off the soundtrack to Schindler’s List, and
prepare to be surprised by some impressively original, affecting,
funny and important music. Amy X Neuburg is truly a composer to
watch! So what else can I tell you, you have to come see this show!
Amy X Neuburg will present her 30-minute “Fill as Desired”
(“Beliebig Füllen”) song cycle for female voices with live looping
electronics. Solstice ensemble will open the evening with a set of
their beautiful and powerful a cappella world music, including
songs in languages such as Finnish, French, Hebrew, Japanese, and
Hungarian.
There are 3 performances: January 23, 8:00 pm, San Geronimo Valley Community Center in
Marin County
January 24 and January 29th, 8:00 pm, Women on the Way Festival, ODC Theater, San Francisco. For information: http://www.ftloose.org/wow.html.
