iPhone App Magic Stave - displays singing as notes on a music stave

I've developed an App that may be useful to members. It's called Magic Stave (search youtube (for video demonstration) or iTunes (to obtain a copy)) and converts any monophonic sound (voice, single notes played on any instrument) into notes displayed on music staves. I thought vocalists would benefit from the ability to have visual feedback of the notes they're singing (with an indication of how in tune they are!). There is more information on the following website: http://www.farnellcomputerservices.com/magicstave. I would appreciate any feedback on how I might make it even more useful from members.

Thank you.

You neglected to mention that it's free!  Thank you.  I've downloaded it and my older son is in the process of checking it out now.

I believe that there is software that can separate the different sounds made by different instruments and voice.   If so-- it should be possible to  use the app on say a vocal accompanied by a piano or some other instrument  but filter out one or the other for monitoring.

 Hi Frank,

Unfortunately the technical challenges around polyphonic note detection are quite considerable. I'm researching this area but the processing required is significant and iPhones are not up to it yet! But it won't be long before phones have sufficient processing power to make this possible. You can be assured that as soon as they can I'll be attempting to make this a reality!

Kind Regards

Terrific App! Thank you so much!  One feature that could be useful would be if it could display a series of pitches...say 6-8 pitches in a phrase, so that you could see where your pitch was off, and then go back and fix it. You could then clear the 'phrase keeper' if you only wanted to check individual notes.

 Hi Timothy,

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like the app, spread the word! I need some support to carry on updating it. Your idea regarding pitches is a good one. I've been thinking along similar lines for a a note training app and when I get time will build this. I'll post again here when it's done!

Thanks for the feedback again keep it coming everyone!

Kind Regards
Jim
