Booking Concerts

I have been given the task of booking church performances for a college choir.  They have not performed outside the school for a number of years so there isn't really isn't a database to work with.  Does anyone have any suggestions or a form letter maybe that would be appropriate to send to churches regarding our availability?

Thank you.

Locally or on tour? I assume on tour. And as I note that you're at a religious college, wouldn't that denomination (assuming that is is a denomination affilication) be the best place to start. That's certainly what our choir did on tour many years ago, since our college had a loose affiliation with the Methodist Church.

And yes, once you track down a list of churches and addresses, a form letter would probably be the best initial approach, but written to be more personal than impersonal, and inquiring rather than assuming anything. They may not be used to the concept of hosting a choir, either. And probably directed to the Pastor, although others may have a different opion about that.

All the best,

John

Hello:

Much like John suggested I would check into those churches that share an affiliation. Beyond that, I recently booked a tour for our small sacred ensemble. Travelling from Indiana to New York and realizing that our repertoire might be more appealing to a more "learned" church, I went to the Diocesan web sites for the Episcopal church in southern Ohio, Philadelphia and New York city and started sending emails to likely candidates. We were able to book six concerts using this method.

Also, I put out a plea on Chotral Net and picked up another.

Best Wishes,

Dana
