The Associazione Rome Festival Coro Giovanile - Children's Chorus invites children choral singers from around the world to join in its professional level performances of Donizetti's masterpiece opera, "L'Elisir d'amore" as members of the Children's Chorus of the Rome Festival Opera (27 June to 12 July, 2010). The opera will be sung in its original language, Italian, fully staged, with sets, costumes, and with the Rome Festival Ballet, and the renowned Rome Festival Orchestra. The Rome Festival has been continuously compared favorably to the prestigious Rome Opera.
WHAT THE CHILDREN SINGERS WILL DO
The children and their chaperons will live in the heart of the inspirational historic center of Rome. The chaperons are older family members who serve as volunteers.
As members of the Children's Chorus of the Rome Festival Opera, the children will rehearse and sing in three performances of the complete opera, "L'Elisir d'amore" and one staged suite performance of the opera under the artistic leadership of Maestro Fritz Maraffi and other international conductors.
The children will take Italian diction classes with opera singers.
The children will take stage craft (acting and movement ) classes with stage directors and opera singers from the Rome Festival Opera.
The children will take voice classes with international voice teachers who are experts in preparing and protecting the young voice.
The children will take dancing classes with dancers from the Rome Festival Ballet.
The children will visit the cultural treasures of the "eternal city" to learn how they inspired composers and join in age appropriate discussions.
The children will meet other youth, instrumentalists, singers, and ballet dancers from all over the United States, Italy, and other countries. Through these artists they will network worldwide.
The children will enjoy chaperoned, age appropriate recreational and social activities.
The children in the Rome Festival Opera Children's Chorus come from all countries, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds. They range in age from ten to seventeen.
The Rome Festival is jointly sponsored by the Associazione Rome Festival which is the not-for-profit Italian cultural charity and the Rome Festival Orchestra, Ltd.,
