The Freudig Singers of Western New York seeks original choral works for mixed chorus (mostly SATB) with piano or organ accompaniment, or a capella for their First Annual Choral Composition Competition.

The Freudig Singers of Western New York seeks unpublished works for mixed chorus. Cash prizes, performances and possible professional recordings.

Eligibility
No age restrictions. 3-7 minutes in length (or thereabouts)

Awards
Three winners will be selected by jury. The composition of the jury is underway and will be announced by the end of February. The first prize winner will receive $300 and will have his/her work performed and possibly recorded in live concert. Second and third prize winners will each receive $100 and will have their works performed and possibly recorded in live concert. Works should be for mixed chorus (mostly SATB) with piano or organ accompaniment, or a capella. Please note that any work with a protected text must be accompanied by a letter of permission from the publisher, poet or author. Also note that the jury reserves the right to make no award and to change the number of award winners depending on the quality of the music submitted. Winners retain all rights to their works.

Submissions:
Three hard copies of each piece (limit two pieces per composer).
A letter including contact information (name, address, phone number, email), performance history of each work and program notes by the composer.
A brief composer biography
Recordings of music, if available (MIDI realizations are acceptable.)
Send only copies of all materials. Do not send originals as no materials will be returned.

Administrative Fee: $10 per piece. Checks to "The Freudig Singers of Western New York"

Materials must be postmarked by April 30, 2010.
