Wednesday, 2/24 at 11:30 am – Ft. Lewis College, Durango, Colorado

With the exception of the performance at the ACDA convention, all concerts are free and open to the public.

The centerpiece of the program will be the set titled "Remembrance of Things Past." It features Herbert Howells' stunning masterpiece "Take Him, Earth, For Cherishing." Howells wrote this piece after the assassination of President Kennedy. The program also features the premiere of a new piece by Bradley Ellingboe, called "Heart, We Will Forget Him." This setting of the Dickinson poem was written specifically for this tour and is tailored to the strengths of the Concert Choir and guest cellist, Joanna deKeyser.

The UNM Jazz Choir will also sing several popular favorites. And the Concert Choir will sing several pieces from its upcoming compact disc "Light."

2010-2011 marks the centennial of choral singing at the University of New Mexico. The Concert Choir's appearance at the American Choral Directors Convention is the first of a series of celebrations observing this milestone. We hope you can join us!
