Choral clinics

Hello there - this is my first posting on Choralnet, so I hope I am in the right forum - my name is Lucy Champion, I live in Dublin and am a member of Anuna, (directed by Michael McGlynn).

I am currently undertaking a series of choral clinics in Ireland - working with singers on posture, basic breathing technique, voice placing, performance etiquette, etc.  They are going very well but I would like to develop my skills in this area in order to expand my portfolio.

Can anyone advise on any courses taking place in the US that would focus on these particular aspects of choral singing?  Or any particular organisations that look at this?

Any information would be great.

Thanks!
Lucy

Lucy,

If you're looking for workshops, clinics, or short-term courses, you might investigate the current issue of Choral Journal -- it has a whole heap of summer clinics and workshops listed and described.

All my best,

Dear Lucy,

There are summer choral workshops galore at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, with campus in Princeton, New Jersey 08540. There is a course in Group Vocal Technique from Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23, with James Jordan, clinician.

(Office of Continuing Education).

For planning, the closest airport would be either Newark Liberty in Newark, NJ (EWR)
  or Philadelphia, PA (PHL).

There is also a 3-week Vocal Seminar sponsored by Westminster Choir College in Florence, Italy.

Best to you for success in your choral clinics.
