scandinavian choirs

Does anyone know the percentage of people who sing in choirs in any of the following countries?  I've seen the figures, but cannot remember where.

Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia.

Sorry I do not have answer to your question.  Will be very interested to see any answers you receive.  For years I was told that Sweden had the highest per capita choral participation in the world.

Just to clarify, out of those countries only Sweden is in Scandinavia (Norway, Denmark, Sweden). Iceland is debatable (linguistically/culturally yes, geographically no).

In any case, Scandinavia + Finland = the Nordic countries. Estonia + Latvia + Lithuania = the Baltic states. This is different from the Baltic Sea region, which includes all countries around the Baltic Sea, i.e. all of the above except Norway and Iceland but also including Russia, Poland and Germany. We Finns do not mind being lumped with Scandinavia for PR purposes, though. :-)

Just now, of course, we are best known as the Nordic no-fly zone.

Hi - I know Sweden has a high rate of participation.  I am also not sure where to find that information.
Norway also has a strong choral tradition, and if you wrote to folks at the Grieg International Choral Festival (google), they may be able to help you get to the right info.  Norway does have something similar to ACDA.
On the heading:  Finland, Estonia, and Latvia are not part of Scandinavia.  Scandinavia is only Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
Can Chorus America give you an idea of where to find international choir info?

No official figures for the whole population in Finland. There was a survey in the 1990s that reported 19% of young women between 10 ann 19 years singing in choirs - but this group is not representative for the whole population. We have estimated that nationally around 100 000 Finns (of ca. 5 million) sing in choirs. That would be around 2% of the population. This is not a reliable figure in the scientific sense, but it does seem a reasonable estimate according to all the information we have.

A relative in Norway just sent me the breakdown, saying that it would probably be representative for all of Scandinavia (use Google Translate if necessary):
