The 46th Montreux Choral Festival (Switzerland) concluded April 10th with children's choir Coro Calicantus (Switzerland) going forward as excellent protagonist and winner of all four possible prizes (the fifth prize went to Vox Cordis from Italy for the mixed choir compulsory piece interpretation).
The choir left the jury as well as the audience enchanted and stunned by their refined, colourful and most artistic performance resulting in the award of all four prizes ahead of the thirteen competing choirs from Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Italy and Switzerland.
The prize for the best programme went to Coro Calicantus for an excellently chosen and interpreted diversified performance ranging from the Renaissance through Baroque to the contemporary composition “Wah-bah-dah-bah-doo-bee” of the ticinese composer Ivo Antognini.
A majestic performance of the competition’s imposed piece “Assumpta est Maria” by Gregor Aichinger lead to a further prize topped by the public’s voted audience prize.
